There’s laughter ringing through the trees. Four square balls are bouncing off the pavement. The energy in the air is palpable. The quiet of spring has receded and Camp Nebagamon is alive again. Our 97th summer is here… THE CAMPERS HAVE ARRIVED!
Yesterday morning the staff gathered for the final session of this year’s staff training week, titled 8 Weeks From Now. In the session, we fast-forwarded to the last day of camp, when we’ll all gather as a camp family to reflect on the summer that was… all of the great memories we’ll be able to recount: the coolest things we saw in nature, the best meals we ate, the funniest moments, the challenges we overcame, and the sheer fun.
Yesterday, that whole story was pure potential, empty pages waiting to be filled. Well… now we’re filling them! Those memories are actively being made. The possibilities of the summer of 2026 are unfolding before our eyes.
LET THIS SERVE AS YOUR NOTICE THAT ALL OF THE BOYS THAT WERE EXPECTED TO ARRIVE TODAY HAVE DONE SO AND ARE SAFELY AT CAMP!

At this very moment the place is abuzz as campers meet their counselors, connect with new friends, or reconnect with old ones. On the Hill, the foursquare courts are bustling with Swampers and Loggers enjoying one of Camp Nebagamon’s cherished pastimes. In the Axeman Village, our 7th graders have already knocked out at least a dozen games of Rinde Ball (roof ball). The Lumberjack Village is humming with activity: pickup 4 v 4 on the 10-foots, the first pickleball matches of the summer, and the season’s inaugural Euchre games.
Across camp there is plenty of bug juice and cookies to go around. Can you name a better appetizer for our traditional first-night meal… spaghetti with marinara and birthday cake for dessert?
After dinner all of our campers will head back to their cabins and begin nesting, the process of making their cabins their homes. With the help of their counselors, they’ll unpack their duffels, make their beds and place their folded clothes into their cubbies. They’ll have a group conversation with their counselors and cabinmates about their hopes and expectations for the summer before drifting off to sleep.
Tomorrow, they’ll wake up to the ringing of the bell at 8 AM and the sweet, unmistakable smell of the Northwoods. They’ll head to breakfast and then off to projects, writing the first paragraphs of the story of the summer of 2026.
Please stay tuned to our updates every other day throughout the summer. We hope that they’ll paint a clear picture of life at camp. The excitement around camp cannot be understated. Now… off to the Rec Hall for dinner.
All is well in the Northwoods.
