Charitable Giving Opportunities for Friends of Camp Nebagamon
Keeping The Fires Burning Campaign
The $10 million ‘Keeping the Fires Burning’ capital campaign was launched to transition Camp Nebagamon from a family-owned business to a non-profit and build essential reserves to safeguard its future. With 85% of our goal already achieved, thanks to the incredible generosity of our Camp Family, we now invite the community to help us reach the finish line and ensure Camp Nebagamon remains the place we all know and love for generations to come.
Camperships
The Camperships program opens the door for young people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds to experience the magic of Camp Nebagamon. By providing financial support, we make it possible for campers who would otherwise not be able to afford it to spend 4 or 8 unforgettable weeks at camp. This fund not only allows more kids to join our community but also enriches the camp experience for everyone, fostering a more diverse and inclusive environment.

Stocks & Securities
Appreciated stock is the most-tax advantaged way for donors to support nonprofits. Giving appreciated securities directly to Camp Nebagamon allows a donor to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated securities, while deducting the full fair market value of stock held for more than one year.
Camp Nebagamon has a brokerage account set up to receive gifts of this nature and if you email us at giving@campnebagamon.com we can assist you with making a stock gift in a traditional way.
Donor Advised Funds
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) offers a streamlined approach for individuals keen on philanthropy to manage their charitable contributions while optimizing tax benefits. Through a DAF, donors make a lasting contribution to a sponsoring charity, like a community foundation, establishing a fund that they can later utilize to recommend grants to various charitable organizations. It’s a convenient and tax-efficient way to support causes close to their hearts.
For anyone participating in Donor Advised Funds, you can recommend a grant or recurring grants to Camp Nebagamon to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.
You can also create a lasting legacy by naming Camp Nebagamon the beneficiary of the entire account or a percentage of the fund. With a percentage, you can create a family legacy of giving by naming your loved ones as your successor to continue recommending grants to charitable organizations. Contact your fund administrator for a beneficiary form.
To recommend a gift through your donor advised fund:
1) Contact your fund manager to recommend a grant or log into your fund and make a grant online.
2) Gifts from a donor advised fund to the Camp Nebagamon should be made payable to: Camp Nebagamon, Tax ID 86-3687857.
3) Mail gifts from donor advised funds to: Camp Nebagamon, PO Box 429, Lake Nebagamon, WI 54849.
Qualified Charitable Distributions
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) represents a taxable distribution from an individual’s IRA, excluding ongoing SEP or SIMPLE IRAs, for those aged 70½ or older. This distribution is directly transferred from the IRA to a qualified charity like Camp Nebagamon. Not only does a QCD fulfill the Required Minimum Distribution Requirement, but it also serves as a highly tax-efficient method of charitable giving.
Planned Giving
Ensuring the enduring legacy of camp involves strategic planning, and one impactful method is through planned giving. Incorporating Camp Nebagamon into your will allows you to make a donation that not only supports us but also offers potential benefits for your estate and inheritance taxes. By leaving a bequest to camp, you’re providing for its future while safeguarding your current cash flow. These thoughtful gifts serve both your family’s interests and our mission simultaneously, and setting them up is straightforward. Please email us at giving@campnebagamon.com if you’re considering a planned gift.
Matching Donations
Thousands of employers will match their employees’ charitable donations to nonprofit organizations. Check with your company to see if they will match your gift to Camp!

Giving FAQ
Why did Camp Nebagamon move to a non-profit model?
The decision to become a nonprofit ensures the long-term protection of our 77-acre camp on Lake Nebagamon, safeguarding it from private development and preserving it as a sanctuary for future generations. This transition allows our Camp Director and year-round staff to focus on delivering exceptional camp experiences, while our Board of Directors, made up of Camp Family members, provides strategic guidance. As a nonprofit, we now have greater opportunities for long-term financial planning, capital improvements, and property preservation, ensuring our camp’s continued vibrancy. This new structure strengthens our community bonds and empowers us to preserve and enhance the traditions that have defined our camp for nearly a century.
Why support Camp Nebagamon right now?
In today’s increasingly digital world, the value of a summer immersed in nature and making face-to-face interpersonal connections is more relevant than ever. Camp Nebagamon makes an impact on young lives, fostering lasting values, skills, and relationships that endure far beyond the campfire’s glow. As members of the Camp Nebagamon community, you understand the profound impact this camp has on young lives. Your support today helps us preserve and enhance the legacy of Camp Nebagamon for generations to come.
Are there different funds to donate to?

Now, as we approach the finish line, we invite all who are able to invest in Camp Nebagamon with a one-time or recurring gift or multi-year pledge of $10,000 or more.
CAMPERSHIPS: By offering financial support to campers and families who cannot otherwise afford to go to Camp Nebagamon, we seek to uphold a core Camp Nebagamon value since 1929: This shall be a place of welcome for all. The Camperships program provides opportunities for kids from different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds to spend 4 or 8 weeks at Camp Nebagamon.
