Hard Job, High Expectations

Hard Job, High Expectations

Waterskiing August 04, 2015 0073There can be little doubt that a summer camp counseling job is not for everyone. The hours are long. You will not have a huge amount of privacy.  The accommodations are hardly five star in nature.  And you will be doing demanding physical work.  All of these factors should be considered before applying for one of our positions.

With that said, being a camp counselor is perhaps the most fun and rewarding job you will ever have.

As a counselor you will:

  • Be looked to as a role model
  • Learn to work with a huge variety of people…children and adults
  • Experience living in a group setting
  • Learn to be relied upon
  • Learn to rely upon others
  • Learn to help others
  • Learn to ask for help
  • Learn to be part of a team
  • Learn to be a leader
  • Learn to be patient
  • Learn how to plan events for hundreds of people
  • Learn to appreciate challenging yourself and others
  • Learn that mistakes are great teachers
  • Learn that even when you think you are exhausted, you sometimes have more to give
  • Learn that singing hokey camp songs is about the most fun thing to do in the world
  • Make a difference in the lives of children
  • Make a difference in the lives of your friends
  • Meet incredible people who are dedicated to children
  • Make memories that last a lifetime
  • Make some of the best friends you will ever have in your life
  • Become a part of something much larger than yourself
  • Discover that you are capable of much more than you ever knew
